Treasurer #JohnChiang has served California well

Here’s an excerpt:

“He was elected to his first of two terms as state controller in 2006 and became state treasurer in 2014.

Converting that expertise into political support in his race for governor has been a problem, he admitted.

“People care about who’s fighting for them,” he said during his onstage conversation with David Siders of Politico. “People have to understand — and we have to do a better job at getting it out — that they have a roof over their head because of John Chiang,” and the way he has managed California’s money.

But a Public Policy Institute of California poll released this week found Chiang running fifth at 6 percent in the race to replace termed-out Gov. Jerry Brown, well behind front-running Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom at 28 percent.

Those numbers don’t accurately show how his campaign is doing, Chiang said.”
